Wordpie
Privacy policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Wordpie is a free word game at wordpie.app. You don't need an account to play, and we try to collect as little as we can. This page explains what we do collect, why, and the choices you have.
Who we are
Wordpie (wordpie.app). For any privacy question or request, email hello@strakkos.com.
What we collect
Names you type
In a game on one phone, names stay on that phone. In an online game, the name you type is saved with that game so the other players can see it. People watching the game can see it too. Please use a first name or a nickname, not your full name.
The "Find players" list
If you tap Go online in Find players, your name, your number of online wins, and whether you're free or in a game are shown to everyone else using Find players. You leave the list when you tap Go offline or close Wordpie. Requests to play show the sender's name, wins and game settings to the person they're sent to.
An anonymous ID for online games
When you play or watch online, Google Firebase gives your device a random ID. This lets you rejoin a game after a refresh and stops other people taking your turns. It is not linked to your email, phone number or any account, and we never ask for those.
Game data
For online games we store the game's settings, the words played, who is out, wins across rematches, emoji reactions, and whether each player and watcher is currently connected.
Usage statistics
We use Google Analytics to understand how Wordpie is used. It records which pages are visited, game events (for example games started, words played, games finished, invites and results shared), and general device and location information such as browser and city. Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. We do not send it your name or the words you play.
Saved on your device
Your browser remembers your name and your light or dark mode choice, so you don't have to set them again. This stays on your device.
Services that help run Wordpie
These services receive information when you play, mainly your device's IP address and, for the dictionaries, the word being checked. Each has its own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase stores online games and creates the anonymous ID.
- Google Analytics collects the usage statistics described above.
- Wiktionary (Wikimedia Foundation) and the Free Dictionary API check whether a word is real and give its meaning.
- Datamuse helps the computer opponent find words in "Vs computer" games.
- Cloudflare hosts the website.
- Google Fonts provides the fonts the game uses.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information.
- We don't show ads.
- We don't ask for your email, phone number or password to play.
How long we keep it
Online game data stays until the game is deleted. We may clear out old games from time to time. Usage statistics are kept by Google Analytics for the period set in our account, up to 14 months.
Children
Wordpie is suitable for all ages. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children beyond the name or nickname typed into a game. Parents can contact us to remove a child's name from an online game.
Your choices and rights
- Use a nickname instead of your real name.
- Block or clear cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's Analytics opt-out add-on.
- Ask us to see, correct or delete information about you. Email hello@strakkos.com and include the game code if it's about an online game.
We follow applicable data protection laws, including Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023 and, for visitors in the European Union and United Kingdom, the GDPR.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Wordpie uses information, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
